Coloring page story
Andy the Ant was on patrol when he found it: the treasure of a lifetime! It was a chocolate chip cookie crumb, and it was bigger than his head. "Hooray!" he buzzed. "The queen will be so proud of me!"
He got behind the crumb and pushed. Heave! It didn't move. He went to the front and pulled. Grunt! It only tilted a little. He tried to lift it. Ugh! It was just too heavy.
Andy was a very proud ant. I can do this myself, he thought. He pushed and pulled and grunted and heaved for a long, long time, getting dustier and more tired with every try.
His friend, Millie, marched by. "Wow, Andy! That's a huge crumb! Need some help?"
"No, thank you," Andy panted, trying to look strong. "I've almost got it." But he hadn't.
Millie watched him struggle for another minute. Then she said, "You know, we're stronger together." She whistled a special ant-whistle, and in a moment, ten more ants came marching over.
"Okay, everyone," said Millie. "On the count of three. One... two... THREE... PUSH!"
With eleven ants all pushing together, the giant crumb lifted off the ground! They marched it back to the anthill like a team of champions. Everyone cheered for Andy's amazing find, and Andy learned that sharing the work also meant sharing the victory, which felt even better than doing it all by himself.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The blocky, geometric style is very easy for 3-5 year olds to color. The repetition of the simple ant shape is great for practicing a single skill, and the large cookie crumb is a satisfyingly big area to fill with color. The concept of 'many little things working together' is visually clear and easy to grasp.

Recommended Tools
Crayons are perfect for this page. The waxy texture works well for the cookie crumb, and they are easy for little hands to manage for the smaller ants. This is a great activity to do with a group of children, where each can color an ant.
