Coloring page story
In the crumbly corner of a sun-drenched wall lived a little mouse named Pip. Pip had soft grey fur, twitchy whiskers, and a very, very quiet voice. One morning, he smelled something wonderful. Sniff, sniff. It was the sweetest, reddest strawberry he had ever seen, sitting all by itself in the middle of the lawn.
"Oh, I must have it!" he whispered to himself. He scampered out, his little heart going pitter-pat, pitter-pat. He pushed the strawberry. It didn't move. He pulled. It just wiggled. It was too big! He needed help. He saw his friends, Squeaky and Nibbles, playing nearby. He opened his mouth to call them, but only a tiny sound came out. "eep."
Squeaky and Nibbles didn't hear him. They were too busy chasing a bumblebee. Pip felt his shoulders droop. He tried again, puffing out his chest. "eep!" Still nothing. A sad tear rolled down his whiskery cheek.
Suddenly, a big, dark shadow fell over the lawn. A cat! Its green eyes were fixed on Squeaky and Nibbles. They hadn't seen it! Pip's heart thumped not with fear for himself, but for his friends. Forgetting he was shy, forgetting he was quiet, he took the biggest breath his tiny lungs could hold and let out a giant…
"SQUEAK!"
It was the loudest, most powerful squeak a mouse had ever squeaked. Squeaky and Nibbles froze, saw the cat, and zipped back to the wall. The surprised cat leaped back and ran away. Pip had saved them! His friends rushed over. "Pip, that was amazing! You were so brave!" they cheered. Pip felt a warm glow spread through his chest. Together, the three of them pushed the big, red strawberry all the way home, and it was the most delicious, well-earned strawberry anyone had ever tasted.
