Coloring page story
In the meadow, all the fireflies glowed with a warm, yellow light. Blink, blink. But Lila the firefly had a secret. When she lit up, her light was a cool, gentle blue.
She felt like an imposter, so she hid her light under a big leaf. "My light is wrong," she whispered.
One night, the littlest star fell from the sky and was hiding, scared, in the tall grass. "I miss my mama, the Moon," cried the star. The yellow fireflies tried to signal the Moon, but their light looked just like all the other stars.
Lila knew she had to help. She flew high and blinked her brightest blue. Blink, blink, BLUE!
Twist: The Moon saw the special blue light immediately! "That's my signal!" she glowed, and sent a moonbeam down to guide the little star home.
Lila was a hero! Her blue light wasn't wrong; it was unique and a beacon of hope. From then on, she glowed her blue light proudly for all to see.
(Interactive Question): What is your favorite color? Isn't it wonderful that there are so many?
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The theme of light and dark with simple, friendly characters is very appealing to 3-5 year olds. The large shapes of the moon, starburst, and characters are easy to color. The story helps them understand that being a so-called 'imposter' or 'different' can be a very good thing.

Coloring Page Printing Tips
Printing on dark blue construction paper can be a fun alternative! Your child can then use white, yellow, or metallic crayons to color the characters, making the 'light' elements pop. This special technique makes the story of the 'imposter' firefly even more visually impactful.
