Coloring page story

Rosie the Rose was feeling very grumpy. Her petals were droopy, her thorns felt extra prickly, and she didn't want to smell sweet at all.

"Hmph," she grumbled. "The sun is too hot. I'm so thirsty."

Just then, a little grey cloud floated overhead. It saw the grumpy rose and decided to help. Plink. Plonk. Splash! A few big, juicy raindrops fell right onto Rosie’s leaves and into the soil around her feet.

Rosie took a long, deep drink. Ahhh! That felt so much better. Her petals perked up, and she let out the most beautiful, sweet smell. She wasn't a grumpy rose anymore. She was a happy, thankful rose.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The highly expressive and simple faces on the rose and cloud are easy for young children (ages 3-5) to read and understand. The large, uncluttered shapes of the petals, leaves, cloud, and raindrops are perfect for developing coloring skills without the frustration of tiny details.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Rosie the Rose isn't grumpy anymore! The rain made her feel so much better. Let's give her some happy colors! What color is the happiest rose? Pink, red, or maybe yellow? The friendly cloud can be white or a light blue, and don't forget to color the big, splashy raindrops a beautiful blue!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

For a vibrant result with markers, print on smooth, white cardstock. If using crayons, standard printer paper works perfectly. Ensure the image is centered on the page by using your printer's 'preview' function before printing.

Recommended Tools

Washable markers will make the colors pop! For a gentler look, watercolor paints can be fun for older children in this age range (with supervision!), especially for the raindrops and cloud. Always use a mat to protect your table.
