Coloring page story
“My lucky star-sock is gone!” wailed Velo. It was his favorite, the one with yellow lightning bolts on it.
They were flying near a strange part of space. In the middle was a tiny, pouting black hole. It wasn’t a big, scary one. It was a little, grumpy one, and every so often it would make a sound like a grumpy tummy: gurgle-slurp.
Suddenly, Rex’s captain’s hat flew off his head and got slurped right into the little black hole! SLURP!
“Hey!” cried Rex.
They realized the grumpy black hole was eating their things! It had Velo’s sock, Rex’s hat, and a jar of Bron’s favorite space-pickles.
“Give us our stuff back, you grumpy-guts!” Rex shouted. The black hole just gurgled.
Tripsy thought hard. “It’s grumpy,” she said. “Maybe it doesn’t like what it’s eating. Maybe it wants something else.”
“Like what?” asked Velo.
“What makes us happy when we’re grumpy?” asked Bron.
“A funny joke!” chirped Velo.
“A happy song!” rumbled Bron.
“A silly dance!” added Rex.
So, they put on a show! Rex told a knock-knock joke. Bron sang a song about space-bunnies. Velo did the silliest, wiggliest dance they had ever seen.
The little black hole started to jiggle. It let out a little giggle that sounded like popping bubbles. POP-GIGGLE-POP! Then, it gave a happy BURP and out popped the hat, the sock, and the pickles! It had traded their things for a good laugh.
