Coloring page story

Giggles McGee put on his favorite hat, a tall, floppy hat with a daisy on top. But today, the hat was grumpy. It flopped over his eyes so he couldn't see. It drooped to the side and tickled his ear.

"Silly hat!" he said. "Why are you so grumpy?"

Lulu Loops whispered, "Maybe it needs a friend."

So, Pip found a tiny hat for the daisy on top. Professor Boffo added silly googly eyes. Lulu tied a little ribbon-cape to the back. They turned the grumpy hat into a superhero hat! (Action: Put your hands on your head. Is your pretend hat happy or grumpy?)

The Twist: When Giggles put the hat back on, it wasn't grumpy anymore. The daisy wiggled, the googly eyes jiggled, and the cape flew behind him. The hat just wanted to play dress-up, too!

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The concept of an object having feelings is a form of magical thinking that is very common and enjoyable for 3-5 year olds. The drawing focuses on one large, friendly subject, which is easy for young children to engage with. The simple shapes of the hat, eyes, and daisy are perfect for small hands learning to color within the lines.
