She felt frustrated and wanted to give up. Just as she was about to stop watering, she saw a tiny speck of red on one plant. A bud! The next day, it opened into a beautiful red poppy. And on another plant, an orange marigold! Then a yellow daffodil, a green hosta leaf, a blue cornflower, a deep indigo iris, and finally, a vibrant violet petunia. They weren't in an arch in the sky, but they were all there, a rainbow of flowers growing in her pot. Lily laughed with delight. She learned that good things take time and patience, and that sometimes, magic is hidden inside the plainest of things, just waiting to grow.
