Coloring page story

Beginning: After every family picnic, they had a Roaring Contest. Papa Rex would go first. "ROOOOAR!" he'd bellow, making the ground shake. Mama Stego had a rattling, whistling roar. SHHH-REEEEEE! Trixie's was a sharp, triple-roar. "RAH! RAH! RAH!" Then, it was Leo's turn.

Middle: Leo looked at his family's big, happy faces. He opened his mouth, but only a tiny sound came out. "peep." Trixie giggled. "That's not a roar, Leo!" Leo felt his face get hot. He tried again, puffing out his chest as big as he could. "meep." He felt silly and small. He didn't want to play anymore. He just wanted to hide his head. His roar wasn't big or loud or strong like everyone else's.

Ending: Mama Stego knelt down and gave his long neck a gentle stroke. "My dear Leo," she said softly. "A roar doesn't have to be the loudest to be the best. Your roar is your roar. It's quiet and sweet, just like you." Papa Rex nodded. "It's the best Leo-roar in the whole world." Leo looked at his family. They weren't laughing at him; they were smiling with love. He took a small breath and gave one more try. "peep!" he squeaked proudly. And the whole family cheered, because they knew that the best thing you can be is yourself.

The Chibi style, with its exaggerated cuteness and clear emotions, is highly engaging for 3-5 year olds. The theme of being proud of yourself is an important and accessible message. The large heads and simple bodies of the characters provide easy-to-color sections that build confidence.
