Beginning: The family arrived at a crossroads. To the left was a bright, sunny meadow full of sweet-smelling flowers. To the right was a cool, shady grove next to a gentle waterfall. SPLISH, SPLASH. "The meadow!" declared Trixie. "We can run and play in the sun!"

Middle: "No!" said Leo, who felt a bit hot. "The waterfall! It's cool and I like the splashy sound." Trixie stomped her foot. "But the sun is cheerful! The grove is too dark." Leo drooped his long neck. "But the meadow is too hot! The shade is comfy." They stood on opposite paths, frowning at each other. The picnic basket sat right in the middle. It looked like the picnic might not happen at all.

Ending: Mama Stego smiled a wise, gentle smile. "I have an idea," she said. "Why don't we have our main lunch in Leo's cool, shady grove? And then, we can take our berry-tarts for dessert over to Trixie's sunny meadow." Trixie and Leo looked at each other. Lunch in the cool shade and dessert in the warm sun? It was a perfect plan! They learned that compromising didn't mean losing; it meant everyone got to be happy.
