Coloring page story

Beginning: Trixie the Triceratops was in charge of the picnic games. "Today," she announced proudly, "we will play 'Pin the Horn on the Tree Stump'!" She had a lovely, soft horn made of moss. Everyone was excited. They had just sat down when a small, spiky dinosaur with a grumpy face stomped out from behind a rock. "My rock," he grumbled. "My quiet."

Middle: The little Ankylosaurus, whose name was Spike, wouldn't smile. When Mama Stego offered him a rock-cake, he just grunted, "Don't like 'em." When Leo tried to show him a cool beetle, he huffed, "Seen it." Trixie felt frustrated. Her fun game day was being spoiled by a grump! "Why is he so grumpy?" she whispered to her mom. Mama Stego whispered back, "Maybe he's just lonely."

Ending: Trixie had an idea. She walked over to Spike. "You have very strong-looking spikes," she said. Spike blinked. "I do," he mumbled. "Would you... would you like to be the official 'Sticker-inner' for my game? You have to stick this mossy horn onto the stump when the player gets it right." Spike’s eyes lit up. He had never been an "official" anything before. He did his job perfectly, thumping the mossy horn with his tail club. He even cracked a tiny smile. By the end of the day, he had shared his favorite shiny pebble with Leo and learned that a picnic is much nicer with friends.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The 'Cute Animal Cartoon' style simplifies the dinosaurs into friendly, recognizable shapes. The clear emotional shift from grumpy to happy is a concept 3-5 year olds can easily grasp and relate to. The large body parts of each dinosaur are perfect coloring sections for small hands.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

For best results, print this page on medium-weight cardstock to prevent markers from bleeding through. Standard letter-sized paper works well for crayons. Set your printer to a high-quality 'black and white' or 'grayscale' setting to get the crispest lines.
