Coloring page story
One evening, Barnaby the Bear was getting ready for bed when he noticed something sad. His favorite goodnight star, the one right outside his window, was losing its color. It was numbered “9” for “Sparkle Silver,” but it was looking pale and sleepy.
“Oh, no!” Barnaby mumbled to his pillow. “My star is fading away.” He felt a pang of worry in his big bear chest. A night without his sparkly star just wouldn't feel right.
He knew what he had to do. The “Sparkle Silver” crayon was special. It was kept at the very top of Twinkle-Peck Hill because it was made of moonbeams and dewdrops. Barnaby was a slow, shuffling bear, and the hill was very steep. He put on his slippers and trudged out into the cool night.
The climb was hard. His legs felt heavy. Plod, plod, plod. He wanted to turn back and crawl into his warm bed. But then he looked up at the faint star and thought, “It needs me.” He kept going.
Finally, he reached the top. There, in a little mossy box, was the “9” crayon, glimmering softly. He picked it up carefully and, holding on to a tall pine tree, he stretched as high as his beary-body could go. He reached… he stretched… and he tapped the star.
SHIMMER-SHINE! The star burst into a dazzling, twinkling silver, brighter than ever before. It seemed to wink right at him. Barnaby smiled, his heart full and warm. The walk back down the hill didn't seem so long. Tucked in his bed, he watched his beautiful, sparkly star and learned that helping a friend, no matter how hard it seems, makes you shine brightly, too.

The theme is gentle and reassuring, ideal for the 3-5 age group. The main character, Barnaby, is drawn in a simple, lovable style. The large star and moon provide big, satisfying areas to color, helping to build motor skills and confidence without the frustration of tiny details.
