Coloring page story
It was Professor Hoot’s birthday, and all the friends wanted to do something special. As they gathered, a little box appeared under the Professor’s tree. It didn't have a number. It had a question mark.
“What could it be?” they all wondered.
Pip gently opened the box. Inside was a single, brand new crayon and a flat, white object shaped like a crown. The crayon had a number they had never seen before: “10.”
“Ten!” they all gasped.
“What color is Number 10?” asked Lily.
“Maybe it’s Rainbow-Swirl!” suggested Ferdinand.
“Maybe it’s Invisible!” whispered Barnaby, looking nervous.
Professor Hoot chuckled wisely. “There’s only one way to find out.”
Pip, being the bravest, picked up the crayon. He looked at the white crown, which also had a “10” on it. With all his friends gathered close, he touched the crayon to the crown.
FIZZ-POP-SPARKLE! The crown didn’t just turn a color. It began to shimmer and glow with the most beautiful, glittering gold they had ever seen. It shone like the sun and sparkled like the stars, all at once.
“It’s Gold!” everyone cheered.
They placed the Glimmering Gold crown on Professor Hoot’s head. He looked very grand and very happy. "The best birthday surprise is one you can all share," he hooted, his eyes twinkling. They learned that day that there are always new and wonderful things to discover, and the very best color of all is the color of kindness and a happy surprise.
