Coloring page story
Pip the Squirrel woke up to a world of white. The trees were white outlines with numbers on their trunks. The flowers were white cups with numbers on their petals. Even the big, round circle in the sky was a white shape with a tiny “4” inside it.
Pip wiggled his nose. “It’s time to color the day!” he squeaked. He grabbed his magic crayon pouch. He found the crayon with a “1” and touched the trunk of a big oak tree. Poof! The trunk turned a lovely, sturdy brown. He giggled and found his “2” crayon, touching a little bluebell. Zing! It shone a bright, happy blue.
But then he looked up. The big circle in the sky, Number 4, was so high. He stood on his tiptoes. He jumped! Boing! Boing! But he couldn’t reach it. The world felt quiet and chilly without its color. A little frown appeared on his furry face. “Oh, dear,” he whispered. “How will the day get warm if I can’t color the sun?”
Just then, Gerry the Giraffe ambled by, his long neck swaying. "What's the trouble, little Pip?" Gerry asked in his low, rumbly voice.
"I can't reach Number 4!" Pip said, pointing his yellow crayon at the sky. "The sun can't shine!"
Gerry smiled. "A big problem sometimes needs a tall friend." He lowered his head, and Pip scrambled onto his back. Up, up, up they went, until Pip was level with the sun. He reached out his “4” crayon and gently tapped the number.
WHOOSH! A brilliant, warm yellow light flooded the meadow. Pip felt the warmth on his fur. Birds began to sing their colorful songs, and the whole world seemed to wake up and smile.
“We did it!” Pip cheered. Tucked safely back on the ground, he looked up at the golden sun and the kind giraffe. He learned that even the biggest jobs are easy when you have a little help from a friend.

Coloring Page Printing Tips
For the best coloring experience, I recommend printing this on a slightly thicker paper, like cardstock, which holds up well to crayons and even markers. Use your printer's standard or 'normal' quality setting to keep the black lines crisp and clear. Make sure the setting is 'fit to page' to get the whole picture!
Recommended Tools
Large, chunky crayons are perfect for little hands in this age group. They are easy to grip and create broad strokes of color. Washable markers are also a great, vibrant choice. Always make sure the tools are non-toxic and age-appropriate. Spreading out a newspaper or a mat first can make cleanup a breeze!
