Coloring page story
In one corner of the meadow, the morning glory vines were special. They didn't need crayons. They were numbered with musical notes, and they got their color from a song. It was Lily the Lamb's job to sing them their color each day.
But this morning, Lily was feeling shy. Some new badger cubs had moved in, and they were watching her. She saw their curious eyes and her voice got stuck in her throat. She looked at the white, waiting flowers and opened her mouth, but only a tiny squeak came out. Eep.
The flowers stayed white. Pip the Squirrel scampered over. "What's wrong, Lily? The morning glories look so pale."
"They're all watching me," Lily whispered, nodding toward the badgers. "My song is hiding inside."
Pip looked at the badgers, then back at Lily's worried face. He smiled a warm, friendly smile. "Maybe they've never heard a color song before! They're not judging, they're just excited." He leaned in and whispered, "You don't have to sing a big, loud song. Just start with a little hum. For you."
Lily took a shaky breath. She thought about how much she loved the flowers. She closed her eyes and hummed a soft, low note. Mmmmmmm. A single morning glory at the bottom of the vine shimmered and turned a faint lavender.
Seeing the color bloom gave her courage. She took another breath and let out a soft, clear note. Laaaaaa! More flowers popped into color—purple, pink, and sky blue. The badger cubs gasped in delight. Lily opened her eyes, and seeing their happy faces, her shyness melted away. She sang her full, beautiful song, and the whole vine exploded in a symphony of color. She learned that sharing her gifts, even when she felt scared, could make the world a more beautiful place for everyone.

Watercolor paints would be a magical choice for this page, especially for the flowers, as they can create soft, blended colors. Supervise closely and use washable kids' watercolors. For a less messy option, pastel-colored crayons or colored pencils will also capture the gentle mood perfectly.
