Coloring page story

Little Elmo the elephant wanted to trumpet like his papa. Papa’s trumpet was a big, strong PARRROOOOOT! that could be heard all across the savanna.

Elmo took a big breath. He blew with all his might. But out came a wobbly, silly sound: "pfffft-pfft-squeak!" The monkeys giggled. Elmo’s ears turned pink, and he hid behind his mama.

"Trying is the first step," Mama said softly, nudging him with her trunk. "Your sound is your very own. Try again."

So Elmo tried again. "Pfffft-pfft-squeeeak!" It was still wobbly. But this time, he didn't hide. He tried again the next day, and the next. Each time, his sound got a little bit stronger.

One evening, a little lost lemur was crying. Elmo knew he had to be brave. He took the biggest breath ever and blew. Out came a loud, clear, wonderful PARRROOOOT! The lemur’s family heard it and came running. Elmo had done it! He found his big voice by helping someone small.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The 'Expressive Cartoon' style is excellent for ages 3-5 as it clearly communicates emotions (pride, relief) that children are learning to identify. The protagonist is a young elephant, which is relatable. The drawing avoids complexity, focusing on the main characters and their interaction, which helps maintain a young child's focus.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

It's Elmo the brave elephant! He finally made his big trumpet sound to help his friend. Let's give him some proud colors! You can make him grey, or maybe a heroic blue or red. Can you see the little lemur he saved? Let's give him some fun colors, too. You can even color the big trumpet sound coming out of his trunk with zig-zags of yellow and orange!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Use standard copy paper for crayons or colored pencils. If your little one prefers markers, a slightly thicker paper (like 24 lb) will work better. Ensure your printer's toner or ink is full to get those nice, dark black outlines that define the coloring areas for your child's elephant adventure.

Recommended Tools

Twistable colored pencils are great for this age as they don't require sharpening and allow for more detail than a crayon. Crayons are a classic choice for filling in the large body of the elephant. Stickers could be a fun addition to decorate the background after coloring is done!
