Coloring page story

Ferdinand the Fox was always in a hurry. Zip! Zoom! Vroom! One afternoon, he found a patch of wild strawberries. They were all numbered “1” for a juicy, cheery red.

“Yummy!” he said, licking his lips. He grabbed his red crayon. But just as he was about to color, he saw a bush of blueberries nearby, numbered “6” for a deep, dark blue. He wanted to eat them both, right now!

In his hurry, he pulled out the wrong crayon. He grabbed his blue “6” crayon and—smudge!—he tapped the biggest strawberry. Instead of turning red, it turned a bright, shocking blue!

“Oh, fizzle-sticks!” Ferdinand cried. He stared at the blue strawberry. It didn't look juicy or cheery at all. It just looked… silly. He tried to hide it with a leaf, feeling his ears get hot with embarrassment. What had he done?

Professor Hoot, who saw everything from his branch, flew down. "In a rush, were we, Ferdinand?" he asked kindly.

Ferdinand nodded, his tail drooping. "I ruined it."

"Nonsense," hooted the Professor. "A mistake isn't an end, it's a new beginning." He pointed a wing at the blueberry bush. "Why not color the blueberries now? The blue strawberry won't look silly. It will look unique!"

So, Ferdinand took a deep breath, found the correct blue crayon this time, and carefully colored the blueberry bush. Plink, plink, plink. Now, next to a bush of yummy blue berries, the one blue strawberry looked like a special, magical treasure. Ferdinand learned that slowing down is smart, and sometimes, a mistake can turn into something wonderful and new.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The exaggerated expressions are easy for young children (3-5) to read and understand emotions. The primary elements—fox, owl, berries—are drawn as simple, chunky shapes that are easy for small hands to color. The scene is self-contained and tells the story visually.
