Coloring page story

Beginning: Flash the Red Racer was built for speed. VROOOM! He loved to be first. First out of the garage. First to the park. First in every race. "Can't catch me!" he'd shout, leaving everyone in a cloud of dust. One morning, the cars decided to go on a trip to Sunny Hill to see the sunset. "I'll be first!" Flash declared.

Middle: The journey began. ZOOOOOM! Flash shot ahead. He passed Gus the Tow Truck, who was stopping to help a bicycle with a flat tire. "No time!" yelled Flash. He zipped past Penelope, who was admiring a field of bright yellow sunflowers. "Too slow!" he called. He even sped past old Grandpa Towne Car, who was telling a story to the little cars. He didn't see the sunflowers, or the grateful bicycle, or hear the funny story. He just saw the road and the finish line: the top of Sunny Hill.

Ending: Flash reached the top of the hill, panting, his engine hot. "I'm first! I won!" he cheered. But... he was all alone. He looked back down the winding road. He could see his friends, all together, laughing as they slowly made their way up. Penelope had a sunflower tucked behind her mirror. Gus was getting a happy ring-ring from the bicycle. Flash’s victory felt empty. The sun began to set, painting the sky in orange and purple. Just then, his friends arrived, full of stories about their journey. Penelope gave him her sunflower. "We saved you a spot," she said. Flash looked at the beautiful sunset, then at his friends. Being first was fast, but being together was better. He learned that the best part of a journey isn't just the end, but all the wonderful things you share along the way.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The design is very suitable for ages 3-5. The theme of friendship and togetherness is positive and easy to understand. The large, simple shapes of the cars, the sun, and the hill are easy for little hands to color, promoting a sense of accomplishment. The lack of complex details makes it a relaxing activity.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Look, all the friends are together watching the sunset! Can you color Flash the Racer a super-fast red? And what pretty colors will you use for the sunset? You can use oranges, purples, and yellows to make the sky beautiful. Don't forget to give the little sunflower a bright yellow color! All the car friends are happy to be together.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

This page looks beautiful when printed on landscape orientation to give a wide view of the sunset. Use regular printer paper for crayons or colored pencils. If using markers for the sunset, a slightly heavier paper will prevent buckling.

Recommended Tools

Colored pencils are great for blending different colors in the sunset. Crayons are perfect for filling in the cars with solid, bright colors. This is a great page for a parent or teacher to color alongside a child, talking about the story and the importance of friends.
