Coloring page story
The sun was very hot on the savanna. Shimmer, shimmer, hot! There was only one big acacia tree for shade, and everyone was crowded underneath. Zeb, a thoughtful young zebra, wished for more shade.
He saw the wind blow a seedpod from the tree. It landed far away in the sun. He watched as other animals walked by and nearly crushed it. Zeb had an idea. He walked over to the little seedpod. He couldn't use his hooves to dig, so he used his strong nose to nudge the earth. Nudge, nudge, nudge. He pushed the seedpod into the soft soil.
Every day, when he went to the river for a drink, he would carry a little water back in a big leaf and give the seed a drink. Drip, drop, drip. He protected it from big clumsy feet.
Twist: Zeb thought he was just planting one tree for himself. But years later, a new, strong acacia tree stood where the seed had been. It gave shade not just to zebras, but to elephants, meerkats, and sleeping lions. By doing one small, caring thing, Zeb had given a gift of shade to the whole savanna for many, many years to come.

The clear, positive outcome of the story is very satisfying for children aged 3-5. The illustration visually explains the concept of 'shade' in a very simple way. The variety of friendly animals provides an engaging coloring experience, and the large tree is a fun central element to color.
