Coloring page story
Little Zoe the zebra could not fall asleep. She counted jumping gazelles. She listened to the crickets. Nothing worked. Her Grandma Zubi saw her restless eyes. "Come here, little one," she said in her soft, warm voice. "It is time for the Striped Lullaby."
"The what?" Zoe asked.
Grandma Zubi began to hum a slow, gentle tune. Hmmmm-hmmm-hummmm. As she hummed, she told a story. "This black stripe," she said, tapping one of Zoe's stripes, "is for the deep, quiet night sky." Hmmmm-hmmm. "And this white stripe," she said, tapping the next one, "is for the bright, peaceful moon."
She continued all the way down Zoe's back, tapping each stripe. "A black stripe for the cool earth, a white stripe for a fluffy cloud. A black stripe for a quiet shadow, a white stripe for a sparkling star."
Twist: The lullaby wasn't just a song; it was a story about how every part of the zebra, black and white, was connected to the calm and beautiful things of the night. Zoe felt safe and part of everything. Before Grandma Zubi could get to the stripes on her legs, Zoe was fast asleep.

The quiet, loving scene is very comforting for the 3-5 age group, making it an ideal pre-nap or bedtime activity. The characters are simple and their relationship is clear. The large shapes of the sleeping zebra and the simple background elements (moon, stars) are easy for little hands to color.
