Coloring page story
A big storm was coming! RUMBLE, RUMBLE, CRASH! The wind howled and the rain came down. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter-WHOOSH! All the zebras huddled together, but Zorro, the smallest and bravest zebra, saw that a baby flamingo was lost and scared.
"I'll save you!" Zorro shouted over the wind. He led the little flamingo to a nearby cave. It was dark and spooky. "Hello?" Zorro called. "Hello... hello... hello," whispered the cave. The baby flamingo shivered. "It's just an echo," Zorro said bravely, even though his own knees were knocking. Knock, knock, knock.
Suddenly, two giant, glowing eyes opened in the back of the cave! The baby flamingo hid behind Zorro. Zorro stood tall, stomped his hoof, STOMP!, and prepared to be very, very brave.
Twist: The "monster" wasn't a monster at all! A little firefly flew out from the dark, and then another, and another! The two glowing eyes were just two fireflies sitting very close together. The cave was filled with twinkling, friendly lights. They were safe and sound until the storm passed.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The blocky, simple shapes are easy for 3-5 year olds to recognize and color. The theme of a 'scary' place turning out to be safe and beautiful is a reassuring lesson. The characters' roles (brave protector and scared friend) are very clear, helping children understand the narrative.
Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Inside the dark cave, you can color the little fireflies a bright, glowing yellow to make them light up the darkness! You are in charge of making the cave a friendly place.
Coloring Page Printing Tips
To enhance the 'dark cave' effect, you could print this on grey or tan construction paper. This will make any light colors used for the fireflies and characters stand out even more. A clean print will make this zebra's adventure truly shine.
